Additionally, I subscribe to relevant newsletters and participate in professional associations such as ISACA and (ISC)². By maintaining a proactive approach to learning, I ensure that my knowledge remains current and that I can effectively apply the latest standards to my work.

My approach to conducting a risk assessment involves several key steps: identifying assets, determining potential threats, assessing vulnerabilities, evaluating the likelihood and impact of risks, and prioritizing them based on their severity. I then develop mitigation strategies and implement controls to address the highest priority risks. Finally, I document the entire process and ensure that all stakeholders are informed and aligned with the findings and recommendations.

When compliance requirements conflict with business objectives, I first assess the potential risks and impacts of not adhering to compliance. I then work closely with the business stakeholders to find a balanced solution that meets both compliance and business needs. This often involves proposing alternative approaches or controls that can mitigate risks while still supporting business goals. Clear communication and collaboration are key to resolving such conflicts effectively.

In my previous role, I identified that our incident response process was not fully integrated with our risk management framework. To address this, I led a project to develop a comprehensive incident response plan that aligned with our risk assessment findings. This included updating our playbooks, conducting regular drills, and ensuring that all teams were trained on the new procedures.
